Human Decisions in User Modeling: Motivation, Procedure and Example Application

چکیده
The aim of this study was to investigate the use and potential of the psychological theory of human-behavior modeling, called the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), in a user-modeling domain. We performed a user experiment involving a well-studied problem of user modeling, i.e., a recommender system (RS) for movies. As a part of the TPB, a survey to estimate the behavioral, normative and control beliefs regarding movie selection was designed. Using the participants’ responses an Ajzen model for movie genres was built and evaluated. An existing public dataset for context-aware movie recommendation, CoMoDa, was used to evaluate the proposed method. The results showed that the TPB approach led to an interesting explanation of movie genre selection. Among others, the potential applications of the TPB in recommender systems and the architecture of such a RS were addressed. Questions about the potential applications of the TPB in the user-modeling domain and its limitations and drawbacks were discussed.

Human Computer Interaction Using Vision-Based Hand Gesture Recognition
With the rapid emergence of 3D applications and virtual environments in computer systems; the need for a new type of interaction device arises. This is because the traditional devices such as mouse, keyboard, and joystick become inefficient and cumbersome within these virtual environments. In other words, evolution of user interfaces shapes the change in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In...

متن کاملActive User Modeling and Assistance with Dynamic Bayesian Networks
Intelligent user assistance systems face incomplete, uncertain and multiple modality sensory observations, user’s dynamically changing internal state, and many constraints in making decisions. We introduce a new probabilistic framework based on the dynamic Bayesian networks to dynamically and stochastically model the user’s internal state, profile, the sensory observations, and the contextual i...

Background and Objectives: Healthcare human resources management is a challenging and multi-faceted task. Study of the interrelation of various variables affecting the performance of the healthcare workers resources can provide insight into effective management of human resources in the health settings. Hence, this study aimed to explore the relationship between job satisfaction, job motivation...
متن کاملDesign Recovery of Web Application Transactions
Modern Web sites provide applications that are increasingly built to support the execution of business processes. In such a transaction-oriented Web site, the user executes a series of activities in order to carry out a specific task (e.g., purchase an airplane ticket). The manner in which the activities can be executed is a consequence of the transaction design. Unfortunately, many Web sites a...
